RISE with the Firsts (Girls' Session)
RISE with The Firsts (Girls Ages 11–15)
RISE with The Firsts is a dynamic, year-long language arts program that combines exceptional writing instruction with the inspiring biographies of the Prophet's SAWS companions. Designed exclusively for girls ages 11–15, this hands-on course uses Yaqeen Institute's acclaimed series, The Firsts to develop strong writers, thoughtful communicators, and young Muslim women who aspire to embody the character of the Sahabah.
Beginning this fall, students will continue with Episode 48, following Shaykh Omar Suleiman's powerful series as they discover the lives, sacrifices, and timeless lessons of the earliest Muslims.
This course follows a flipped classroom model, allowing students to learn foundational content at home so that class time is devoted to meaningful discussion, collaboration, and writing.
Each week, students will:
Watch the assigned episode of The Firsts by Shaykh Omar Suleiman.
Complete thoughtfully designed writing assignments created by Dr. Mohiuddin, carefully tailored to each student's strengths, interests, and areas for growth.
Submit their work through Google Classroom and receive personalized instructor feedback designed to strengthen both writing skills and critical thinking.
Participate in engaging, workshop-style classroom sessions where they revise, collaborate, discuss, present ideas, and apply lessons from the lives of the Sahabah to contemporary issues.
Throughout the year, students will strengthen their skills in:
Expository writing
Analytical and reflective writing
Creative writing
Grammar and language mechanics
Vocabulary development
Reading comprehension
Discussion and collaboration
Critical thinking
Public speaking and presentations
Rather than simply learning about history, students will examine how the lives of the Sahabah continue to shape our understanding of faith, resilience, leadership, and service today. Every lesson is designed to help students become more confident writers, thoughtful readers, and compassionate Muslim leaders who can communicate their ideas with clarity, purpose, and conviction.
Admissions
A non-refundable $50 application fee is required to begin the admissions process. After submitting an application, families will be contacted to schedule an interview to determine whether this year-long program is the right fit for the student's learning style, temperament, and academic readiness.
Applicants should be fluent readers, demonstrate strong writing potential, and be prepared to participate actively in discussions, collaborative workshops, and independent assignments.
